At the core of our mission is Chinese language teaching in secondary schools and universities in the state of Nebraska. In addition to stationing Chinese language teachers in Nebraskan schools, we also provide resources to public school teachers to support them in teaching about China. We all know that China is an important part of the world, but it can be difficult to find useful English language resources to teach students about the Chinese language, history, culture, and society. The Confucius Institute is here to help. Not only can we provide you with links and ideas for classroom lessons, we can also provide special training seminars and guest speak at schools. Below are some ideas on ways the Confucius Institute can help.
The China in the Classroom seminar is an annual seminar and workshop hosted by the Confucius Institute, aimed at helping Nebraskan middle and high school social studies, history, and Chinese language teachers. Lectures are delivered by scholars and professional teachers on various topics concerning Chinese history, culture, and contemporary society. China in the Classroom is free to all Nebraskan teachers, and we also cover the accomodation cost of teachers who have to travel across the state.
