Chicken Chow Mein & Kung Pao Pork
Chicken chow mein has been a popular dish in American Chinese restaurants. Chow mein means “stir-fried noodles”, which can be served as a one-course meal or a side dish. Restaurants in different regions offer different variations of the dish – some are softer, some are crispier and drier and some are deep-fried crispy noodles. This class will feature pre-cooked soft noodles stir-fried with chicken, vegetables and mixed sauce.
The Kung Pao dishes are traditional Sichuan cuisine, with chicken as the primary ingredient. Variations using pork, beef or shrimp as main ingredients are also popular. We will use less red chili than typical Sichuan dish so that more people can enjoy Kung Pao pork we cook in the class.
Instructors from Confucius Institute at UNL will demonstrate cooking the above mentioned dishes following our step-by-step recipes, which will be available in class. You have opportunity to participate cooking if you want to. You are welcome to taste the food cooked in class.
