Spring 2020 HSK Test at the University of Nebraska

Examination Date: April 11, 2020

         HSK is a standardized Chinese proficiency test to measure the ability of non-native Chinese speakers to communicate in Chinese in daily life, academic and working settings. It is officially administered by the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) in Beijing, China. The test result is used to select participants for Confucius Institute Scholarships and the Summer Camp candidates. In addition, it is a plus for career building.

         The Confucius Institute (CI) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is a test center for HSK and holds the test twice each year. Any person interested is welcome to register and participate in the test. The upcoming test at the UNL Confucius Institute is on Saturday April 11, 2020. (Exact classroom and time will be announced about 10 days prior to exam by e-mail)

        HSK consists of 6 levels. Each candidate can select a suitable level to register. The test fee for each level is different (See the table below).

To Register

 1.   The deadline to register is 11:00 AM March 15, 2020 (12:00 AM March 16 Beijing Time). Testing fees must be recieved by the Confucius Institute by October 20

2.   Log on to Official HSK Homepage Practice tests are also accessible from this page.

3.   Choose the test center "Confucius Institute at University of  Nebraska- Lincoln" to test in Lincoln or "University of Nebraska - Omaha, Peter Kiewit Institute" to test in Omaha. Select the test date April 4, 2020.

4.   Fill  in  your  personal  information  for  registration  and  submit  when  it  is  confirmed

      completely and correctly. Note:All level 3 and above examinees in the US must have a passport-standard digital photo to upload in their registration.

5.   Complete your registration.


Paying Test Fee


Once online registration is completed, please pay the test fee either by check or cashier’s check to the Confucius Institute University of Nebraska – Lincoln by March 16, 2020. The check should be made payable to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and mailed or delivered to

 NOTE: Payment recieved after Mar 16 will not be accepted. If you send it by mail be sure to mail it out at least 4-5 days before to ensure it is recieved on time. Also note that our office is only open M-F 8-5 PM.

Cancellation Refunds

If a student withdraws from the test and notifies the Confucius Institute 27 days or more prior to the test date, a full refund will be given.
If a student withdraws from the test and notifies the Confucius Institute 10 days before the test date, a 50% refund will be given.
If a student withdraws from the test and notifies the Confucius Institute less than 10 days before the test date, no refund will be given.

If the exam is cancelled by the Confucius Institute for inclement weather or any other reason, I full refund will be issued.

Refunds will take one month to process and will come in the form of a check issued by the state of Nebraska.


Where is the exam held?

The Lincoln HSK exam is generally held at Nebraska Hall at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln (unless otherwise notified), but sometimes test are held at Scottsbluff High School and the Peter Kiewit Institute in Omaha as demand requires. Where can I park my car?

Meter parking is available in available in the parking lot adjacent to Nebraska Hall to the Northwest of 16th st and 'W' st. For more information, please consult the UNL Parking and Transit Services Map.

How will I know where and when my test is?

Examinees will be notified by e-mail of the exact location, rooms, and testing times 10-15 days prior to the exam. Please check your e-mail during this period. The e-mail will come either from Zhongting Li or the Confucius Institute.

What should I bring with me?

You MUST bring the following items:

  • 2B Pencil (Must be 2B).
  • A photo ID of the examinee with date of birth (ie. driver's license, passport).
  • Printout of Admission Ticket from HSK website where you registered.
