The Confucius Institute at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will award 6 students accepted to participate in the 2019 Chinese Bridge Summer Camp a scholarship up to $500. This merit and need-based scholarship is intended to defray the cost of travel.
In order to be considered for this scholarship, students will need to submit their transcript/report cards that include grades earned in Chinese language classes and a 1 page essay answering a specific prompt. Additionally, students who successfully participate in our 2019 Chinese Speech Competition and Character-bee will be given extra consideration for a scholarship.

How do I apply?
Students just need to submit these documents:
- Report card or High School transcript which includes grades earned in Chinese language classes.
- 1 page (double spaced, 1 inch margins, 12 pt., Times New Roman font) essay which answers "Why I want to go to China and what I hope to gain from this experience" and "Why I would benefit from this scholarship."*
- Successfully participated in the 2019 Chinese Speech Competition and Character-bee.**
*Essays composed/partially composed in Chinese will be given extra consideration for a scholarship.
**Participation in the 2019 Chinese Speech Competition and Character-bee is not required, but highly encouraged.
Applications will be closed on May 31, 2019.
Scholarship recipients will be notified by June 7, 2019.
